Frequently asked
Short and honest. What holds legally is in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy — those take precedence if anything here reads differently.
About the app
What does Kadenz actually do?
You pick photos and videos from your ride, a vibe and a song. Kadenz measures the song's tempo, cuts your clips on the beat, lays your route and your numbers over the top, and hands you a finished vertical 9:16 video. You do not need to know how to edit.
Do I need an account?
No. No sign-up, no email address, no password. The app creates an anonymous ID on first launch so your videos stay yours. You can see and copy that ID in the settings.
The trade-off: delete the app or switch phones and your saved videos are no longer reachable inside the app. Anything you downloaded stays in your camera roll.
Does Kadenz run on iPhone and Android?
Yes, both. The app is on the App Store and on Google Play.
How long does a video take?
A few minutes. Exactly how long depends on how much footage you upload and how long the finished video runs. The app shows progress and brings you back if you close it in the meantime.
How much footage can I use?
Up to 1:30 minutes across all clips together. If it is more, the app tells you up front and you shorten individual clips right in the trimmer. Pulling the best ten seconds out of sixty works on your phone, without a second app.
Route and numbers
Where does the route in the video come from?
From a GPX file you upload yourself. That is the standard format for recorded rides, and Strava, Komoot and Garmin Connect all export it. Kadenz reads the track plus distance, speed and climbing from it.
How do I export a GPX file?
Strava: open the activity, three-dot menu top right, then "Export GPX".
Komoot: open the tour, tap "…", then "GPX export".
Garmin Connect: open the activity, gear icon top right, "Export original file".
Then pick the file in Kadenz at the "Route" step.
Can I skip the route?
Yes. You can skip that step. The video then comes without the map and without the stats — the beat cutting stays exactly the same.
Music
Can I post the included songs?
Yes. The songs in the catalogue are royalty-free and explicitly cleared for publishing. They are baked into the video, so you can post straight away.
Can I use my favourite chart song?
Yes, with a detour. You search for the song in Kadenz, the app reads its tempo and cuts your video to it. You then get the finished video silent, and you add the real song directly in TikTok or Instagram. That is where the licences sit, and the cuts land because the tempo matches.
Why not simpler: a protected chart recording must not ship inside a file we hand you. That would make us the distributor. So we never touch the original recording.
Where do I add the sound in TikTok?
Upload the video, tap "Sounds" at the bottom, search for your song and pick it. The app shows the title in the finished video so you do not forget which one it was.
Subscription and price
What is free?
You can create one preview with your own clips and watch it in the app. That way you see what Kadenz does with your own footage before deciding.
Exporting your data and deleting your data are always free.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. How long depends on the plan: 3 days on the weekly plan, 7 days on the monthly and yearly plans.
After that the subscription continues as a paid one unless you cancel first. The trial is available once per store account, even if you later pick a different plan.
What does Kadenz cost?
The app shows you the price in your currency before you pay. It comes straight from the App Store or Google Play, which is why there is no number here — it would be a different one depending on your country.
There are weekly, monthly and yearly plans. The store is your contract partner for the purchase, not us.
How many videos does the subscription include?
Up to 10 videos a week. The allowance refills continuously rather than jumping back on a fixed weekday.
How do I cancel?
In the store, not in the app. We cannot end a subscription for you.
iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
Android: Google Play, profile picture, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions.
Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period. Until then everything keeps working.
I have a code. Where do I redeem it?
In the settings under "Subscription", or on the subscription screen via the three-dot menu. On iPhone Apple's own sheet opens; on Android you type the code and get sent to the Play Store.
Your data
Where are my videos stored?
On servers in the EU. Which providers are involved and what for is spelled out in full in the Privacy Policy.
How long is everything kept?
Finished videos stay until you delete them.
Raw clips from an unfinished video are removed automatically after 7 days.
Technical logs are deleted after 30 days.
If you do not use the app for 12 months, everything is cleared out.
How do I export my data?
In the settings under "Export my data". You get a ZIP archive with a readme, a clickable link list and your data as a file. The links inside are valid for 7 days; you can run 5 exports a day.
The export is always free and needs no subscription. One thing to know: it only becomes a backup once you have actually downloaded the files. Before that it is a list of links.
How do I delete everything?
In the settings under "Delete all data". That removes your videos, your raw clips and your ID, including at the providers involved. The steps in detail are on Delete account and data.
An active subscription does not end from this. The store is your contract partner; cancel it there.
